LASSEN COUNTY FIRE SAFE COUNCIL, INC. 2016 PROJECT ACCOMPLISHMENTS

Projects:

  • In 2016, the Lassen Fire Safe Council continued their work on multiple fuel treatment projects, as well as other projects.  All 10 Lassen County Firewise Communities were recertified.  This included Clear Creek, Day Lassen Bench, Janesville, Lake Forest, Little Valley Lookout, Milford, Spalding, Stones, and Susanville.
  • Upper Pit IRWMP – South Ash Valley Project: Treated 2,100 acres through the LCFSC/PRCD partnership. 770 adjacent acres were in process through a BLM contract at the end of the year.
  • Partners for Fish & Wildlife/PRCD Project: Provided approximately 400 acres of post mechanical treatment, follow-up hand treatments.
  • PG&E Little Valley Project: Post mastication treatments of the right-of-way (60 acres) and 3 fire safe fuel clearance work on 3 properties.
  • PG&E Day Lassen Bench Project: 146 acres of acres of brush mastication treatments along Day Road corridor.
  • PRCD/Lookout Project: At the close of the year approximately 400 acres had received mastication treatments; project continues.
  • Cal Fire Green House Gas South Eagle Lake Project: At the close of the year approximately 320 acres had received forest thinning treatments; project continues.
  • Cal Fire Green House Gas Black Mountain Project: At the close of the year approximately 400 acres had received forest thinning treatments; project continues.

LCFSC received the following new grants in 2016:

  • SNC Diamond Mountain USFS NEPA/CEQA Assistance $75,000
  • SNC Diamond Mountain Private Land Watershed Restoration Treatments $500,000
  • National Forest Foundation Community Capacity Grant Diamond Mountain Initiative $24,000
  • Fiscal Sponsor for CFSC Day Lassen Bench Day Road Corridor Fuel Treatments  $113,000
  • Cal fire SRA Little Valley WUI Fuel Treatments $198,313
